Software Metrics Don’t Kill Projects, Moronic Managers Kill Projects
I don't like to create "link blog postings" but Alberto Savoia created a gem with this entry. He points out that just because someone dumb abuses a tool, it's not a bad tool. It means the dumb person is, well, just dumb.
Software Metrics Don't Kill Projects, Moronic Managers Kill Projects
There are tools and metrics (like code coverage) that get abused. I've seen testers rewarded for the sheer number of bug reports they file. Should we stop running Cobertura? Should we stop recording bugs? Or maybe find the proper way (hint hint) to use the tools instead?
Btw, if you follow Alberto's blog, then you've already read another great post of his, Testivus on Software Metrics. It's in the same vein, but an entertaining read as well.
